Christmas Morning 2011

I am finally getting around to a Christmas morning post. Better late than never! I will start off by saying this Christmas season was so much fun. Karlee knew it was all about celebrating the birth of Jesus. Some of our conversations about how Jesus celebrates in heaven were ones for the record books. I especially liked the conversation where Karlee told me that Jesus lived in her heart so she had to eat lots of birthday cake to feed her and Jesus. Priceless!!

Chip and I were wide awake around 6:30 (Lord knows why because we had not been in the bed for long!). Both girls woke around 7:15. I got Karlee and Chip got Madelyn (changed diaper and all!). We wanted to walk downstairs together and see their faces at the same time. I don't like leaving everything out on display unwrapped. Well, Santa doesn't like to do that! To me it's a bit overwhelming for them to see everything at once. Once it's seen and touched, it's over. I like Christmas morning to last a while and get to see reactions to each and every gift. Plus, who doesn't like unwrapping lots of presents!

We had so much fun watching both girls open their gifts. Karlee was thrilled with everything, especially the "walking dog" she had been asking for for over 3 months! A scooter was #2 on her list and she was riding it all over the house from the minute she opened it, helmet and all! Sweet Madelyn was just happy to pull paper off the gifts. She would open one and clap after she got all the paper off. She was so proud of herself!

Here are a few pictures of the girls opening their gifts. I put the camera down once we started opening our gifts to each other under the tree so I could enjoy opening my own!! I'm blogging from my favorite gift from Chip, a Macbook Pro laptop. It's super awesome!!!

Karlee's gifts from Santa

Madelyn's gifts from Santa

Wanting to open the big one 1st!

Santa brought the girls a pirate ship water table to both of them. It's still in our living room today and they are loving it. Ready for warm weather so I can move it to the back porch and fill it up with water!

Madelyn didn't waste any time getting to her gifts either.

Santa also brought both the girls the Rockin Elmo. Karlee got the guitar and Madelyn got the keyboard to go with it. We've had some pretty cool jam sessions with Elmo!

Madelyn is dancing a jig to Karlee's music! This was hilarious!!!

Karlee was so excited to get a dress up trunk for her princess dresses. She opened it to find 3 new dresses to add to her collection.

Daddy trying to figure out Karlee's "computer", the Leap Pad. Karlee plays with this for hours every day. Will be a great time consumer for our plane trip at the end of the month!!!

The much anticipated "walking dog"! Karlee was ecstatic!!!!

Madelyn cleared off the presents to sit in her chair. Karlee received one of these chairs for her 1st Christmas and it has been very well used. Now the girls won't fight over one chair since they both have their own. Or, at least that was the intention but they are proving me wrong! Karlee now wants to only sit in the new one.

Once Madelyn opened her Cozy Coupe, she pretty much stayed in it the rest of the day. She would drag toys in there, shut the door, and play all by herself. It was her own space away from the craziness of her big sister!

It didn't take long for my climber to find a way to get on top of Karlee's new dress up trunk!

We managed to set the camera timer and get a family picture on Christmas day before getting ready for bed, though the girls had been in their pjs all day!!

I hope you all had as wonderful a Christmas as we did.
