Karlee was an angel at her 18 month check up today. No tears or screams the entire visit until the shots. Even that cry was about 1 second and then she said "go mommy" and pointed to the door. She was ready to get out of there! Another fact of my baby getting older is we have no more shots until she's 4. I can't believe it. I know Karlee will be excited.
She still hasn't broke the 20 pound mark yet. She's 19 lbs 13 oz and 32 inches tall. She's barely on the chart for weight but in the 55th percentile for height and 97th percentile for head (she has her daddy's head!!). I asked Dr. Greer if I should be worried about her weight. He said absolutely not. He was amazed at how much she eats and what she eats. He also said it was obvious that she's active when her calf muscles were more toned than his!
Karlee got the dreaded MMR shot today and the last round of Hep A. I'm going to be watching her like a hawk now to see if I notice any changes in personality. She repeats anything and everything you say these days so I'll be watching that too. She knows all of her body parts, can count to three, knows the sound most common animals, trucks, motorcycles, and airplanes make, and knows a lot of colors. What comes out of her mouth amazes me everyday. I always wonder if she's supposed to be this far advanced at this age or not. I guess I'll find out when she starts back to Parkway in a few weeks and we see her around other kids her age.
Sorry for all the details. This is mainly for me to look back on when I get around to updating her baby book.

Passing on a Yummy Recipe!
Our former secretary brought these yummy bars to our office yesterday and I just had to pass on the recipe. If your kids like blueberries as much as mine does, this is a must!
Cinnamon Blueberry Crumble Bars
1 pkg plain yellow or white cake mix
1 cup butter melted (2 sticks)
1 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 ts ground cinnamon
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries, rinsed and drained well
1/2 cup sugar
Preheat oven 350 degrees, or 325 if glass pan
In mixer, blend cake mix, butter, oatmeal, brown sugar, eggs, and cinnamon for 1-2 minutes. Reserve 1 1/2 cups for topping. Transfer the rest of the crust mix to a 9x13 ungreased pan. Press in bottom of pan.
For filling, mix blueberries and sugar. Spread berries on crust. Pinch off from the reserved crust mix and scatter over filling.
Bake until light brown and bubbling 40-45 minutes. Cool 30 minutes. Makes 24 medium bars. Great with ice cream!!
Can be used with fresh strawberries or peaches.
Enjoy!!!!!!

A Teary Last
Karlee turned 18 months old yesterday. I absolutely cannot believe it. She is growing and changing every day. She talks non-stop and you can actually understand pretty much everything she says (at least I can!) She's putting three word sentences together and sounds so grown sometimes when she talks. She is now telling us when she has a "poopy" and walks up the stairs to her room for a diaper change; she tries to climb in her highchair when she's ready to eat; she's for the most part feeding herself with a spoon or fork; she says "baff, night, night mommy" and heads up the stairs at night when she's ready for a bath and bed. She also waves and blows kisses to Bubba the Bear as she heads up the stairs saying "night, night" to him too!
The bedtime routine brings me to the part I'm so teary about. Our nights follow a pretty strict routine of dinner, play time, bath, pj's, dry hair, bottle, and bed. Karlee knows the routine and can tell you which step we're on when we ask her.
After drying her hair, she starts saying "bottle" because she knows that is next. Well, with a tear flowing, we are no longer on bottles. She's been on one bottle a day for quite a while now. I just couldn't give up that last bottle of the day yet. That's my quiet time with Karlee that I cherish so much. Chip and I had decided when we ran out of bottle liners (we use Playtex nurser bottles for those of you that don't know what liners are), that we would buy no more. That would be the end of bottles. It was a total coincidence that we just so happened to run out of liners on the night of turning 18 months old. I mean, what are the odds.
I was teary last night as I read Karlee her prayer book while she drank what she doesn't know was her last bottle. I can only imagine what tonight will be like when she says "bottle" and we don't give her one. She didn't use the bottle to go to sleep so I'm not worried about her sleeping. She's always awake when I lay her in the crib.
After a night of thinking "oh my goodness, my baby is growing up too fast", when we walk into the nursery at church this morning, Miss Carmita asks how old Karlee is now. I told her 18 months, and she said we had to move her up to the next class. I had so much going through my head already about not having a baby anymore and now I was hit with another fact that she is getting older. After finding out that she just turned 18 months yesterday, Miss Carmita decided that Karlee could stay in her room until September when the classes changed for the year anyway.
I guess I'm a little emotional about so much with Karlee changing because Chip and I are totally undecided about having anymore children. We know we don't want another child any time soon, but we just can't decide if we want another child ever. But, with everything we do with Karlee for the last time, it makes me wonder if I'm really ready to not do this ever again. Most of my friends are pregnant right now with their first and second children. When I felt little Bradley Wilson's foot move in Ali's belly yesterday, it brought back those memories of carrying a child. Those little movements are the only thing I miss about being pregnant.
Chip and I are so blessed to have such an amazing child that fills our heart with so much love and joy every day. We can't fathom spreading that love and joy between another child. I know those of you out there with more than one child probably think we are crazy. But, we ask ourselves several times a week if we are a two child family. That question is still left blank.....
Look at these bangs. They are so long, but do I cut them or let them grow? Oh heavens, I'm so not ready to make that decision yet. Too much is coming at me at once here. I'm definitely not ready for my baby's first haircut yet.

I'm an Artist!!
I had some pretty good fun with my best girlfriends from high school last night. We get together once a month to have dinner. We threw in an extra last night and went to Sips N Strokes after dinner at Johnny Bruscos. We had a blast!! I was so nervous and anxious going into it because I've never painted anything in my life - not even a wall in a house.
Well, it wasn't so bad. They walk you through each step and stroke. It turned out pretty easy and relaxing. The good company made it even better! I already want to go back.
Total concentration - see Chip, I did paint that all by myself!
The finished products!

First Trip to the Zoo
After relaxing on Saturday, Chip and I decided to venture to the Montgomery Zoo with Karlee on Sunday morning. Let me tell you, go on a Sunday morning right when they open at 9:00. You have the whole zoo to yourself. It also wasn't too hot today so the animals were out and about roaming.
We started Karlee out walking on her own to stretch her legs after the car ride. She did great. No running from us or climbing on the fences!! She later held her hands up and in the stroller she went for the rest of the trip. It was a great morning and we had so much fun.
Karlee loved seeing the animals and making the sounds they make. Birds are her favorite and we heard "tweet tweet" pretty much the whole time. She growled at the tigers, lions, and bears but didn't know exactly what to do with the monkeys! She called the bear "Bubba" because that's the name of her favorite stuffed animal at home. She liked the flamingos too. I've got to get on video her saying that word. It's so funny! She waved and blew kisses to all of the animals (even to two wolves that were fighting - we didn't hang around that part too long).
We are looking forward to the next adventure we take Karlee on (hopefully the aquarium once the schools get back in so it won't be so crowded). We are loving these "firsts" we get to enjoy as a family.

Can she be a girly girl??
Lately, Karlee has been interested in baby dolls and Barbie more than ever. I'm starting to wonder if I will have my girly girl instead of a tom boy. When I was unpacking from the lake a few weekends ago, I walked out of my closet to find that Karlee had gotten in to my makeup bag and went to town with the lipstick.
And last night, I walked out of the bathroom to find Karlee walking around in my heeled shoes. Chip said he only helped her a little in putting them on. She has always been fond of shoes and plays with any pair she sees. My closet is one of her favorite places to play. She crawls under the hanging clothes to my shoe rack and makes a huge mess by pulling off every pair and examining them.
Watch out Chip!! She'll be asking for Jimmy Choo's and Manolo's to match mommy's before we know it.

4th on the Lake
Let me start off by saying congrats to my brother, Adam, and Erin on their engagement!! We are super excited for a great addition to our family.
We started our 4th of July celebrations at the Opelika fireworks Thursday night with a group of friends. Karlee loved playing in the open grass and running around like a maniac.
We headed to the lake when the fireworks ended. Karlee fell asleep when we hit Hwy 280 and she slept until 9:00 Friday morning (so did Chip and I!!). We had lots of fun over the past few days. Chip headed back home Sunday night for work and Karlee and I stayed 'til lunch on Monday. She's now napping and I'm headed that way after this post.
Enjoy the pictures.
Friday morning yardwork with daddy
"I found the watermelon!"
Reading with Aunt Nana
Snacking with Aunt Boots
Out like a light on the boat when we arrived at our "Sandy Island"-we managed to get her life jacket off without waking her when the boat stopped!!
One of many attempts to get a good picture of Lila, Clete, & Karlee in their matching outfits
Fishing with daddy
First ride on the waverunner
First ride in Grandaddy's boat
Playing on the Baker innertube
Practicing with Maggie Rae, Gabby, and Dalton on the Rankin innertube
The first real ride on the innertube with mommy and Granna - she loved it!!
